Yesterday I saw a copy of Alan Garner's The owl service at the newsagent's, and bought it. My copy disappeared years ago, so it's a long time since I read it.

I enjoyed reading it more this time around, but still don't like it as much as his earlier books, written for, and about, younger children.

In a comment on another topic, Vladika Seraphim mentioned Alan Garner, who is one of my favourite authors. I noticed the other day that some of his books had been reprinted and were on sale in the local book shops, and wondered if this was a result of the popularity of the Harry Potter books, which seem to have had the effect of making kids see ( Read more... )
